Whitening Strips

Teeth whitening strips are thin pieces of polyethylene that have a precise dosing of hydrogen peroxide bleaching agent coated on one side. This technique is less expensive than other teeth whitening procedures and whitening strips are also less visible than bleaching trays. This procedure is actually known to be the perfect alternative to tray-based bleaching products. Whitening strips have however several disadvantages. One disadvantage often cited when it comes to whitening strips is the fact that they can only be used to whiten a person's six front teeth.

Another disadvantage lies in the difficulty to be applied and removed. Whitening strips will be fitted over your lower and upper teeth. You must wear them for half an hour to one hour each day. Some whitening strips even dissolve. It can take several days or even a whole month to see any improvements but that depends of course on the brand you decide to use. Make sure you wash your hands after using whitening strips to avoid the risk of irritating your fingers or spoiling other objects you touch. Don't forget to discuss with your cosmetic dentist before using whitening strips to make sure this procedure is compatible with your individual needs.
